Not too late for Founder's Day!
This year we are returning to celebrate our Founder's Day at Maggiano's at 4400 Ashford Dunwoody in the Perimeter Mall. All who attended last year will tell you we all left with very satisfied stomachs from all the fabulous food. Please join us this year. Sunday, October 9 from 1 - 3 p.m. RSVPs are required by Tuesday, October 4. You may pay at the door, but we need a count for the food. Our cost is $29.50 per person. Contact June Moore for more information. mini ivy

From the President's Desk...
Alpha Phi Sisters,

I can't tell you how excited I am for this coming year. Since this is my first term as president and there are lots of you I haven't yet met, I thought I should tell you a little about myself.

In 1995, I graduated from Wichita State University in Kansas with a BFA in Theatre Performance. I moved to Atlanta more than two years ago to be with my husband, Kevin, who is an engineer at Lockheed Martin.

Currently, I work as a substitute teacher, volunteer at my church, St. Vincent de Paul, spend time with my puppy, Saphron, and I serve on the board for the Polk Street Players Community Theatre where I act and direct. Recently, we bought our first home in Hiram -- way out west of Atlanta in the boondocks. That is pretty much me in a nutshell.

Convention was exciting and invigorating. I came back full of ideas and with about 30 new goals for our chapter. I intend to get a little ambitious. My plan involves celebrating what has worked and infusing new ideas into our less successful areas. My hope is that with more people involved, there will be less stress for a few individuals and more fun for everyone. So whether you want to serve in an office, attend a fun event, represent us at a volunteer activity or all of the above, I look forward to spending time with you.

I would like to give a special thank you to Linda Frassrand for her hard work and devotion the past couple years as president. She has been a huge inspiration and has left hard shoes to fill. Thank you, Linda!

Alpha Phi has meant different things to every one of us. For me, it has been the friendships I formed in my collegiate days, as well as my alumnae ones. I look forward to making more memories and friends in the coming years. Life is so full of stress and tribulations that I need that one night a month for me and my sisters.

See you at the August Kick-Off! mini ivy
